This project commenced following the cessation of power production at Bradwell Power Station in Essex.
The cranes used in the Pond’s area for the transfer of fuel (fuel route cranes) required decommissioning and removal from site.
Crane Care was employed by Magnox to devise the safest way to complete this project.
Our design team designed special material handling equipment to, remove the radiological active components from the Pond s areas to, the active waste compound , where they were then broken down into smaller components and stored in half high ISO containers for ongoing disposal at specialised sites.
The project was completely successful and finished in line with the programmed schedule.
